Rotorua representative teams give players the chance to represent their community in regional and national competition.

Trials and selection
Our representative pathway
Rotorua's representative programmes run across the school year. Open trials for U12, U14, U16 and U18 take place after Labour Weekend. The pathways below are how RBA has described each age group's programme; dates for each new season are announced by RBA.
U12 pathway
U12 Boys and U12 Girls
Term 4
Open trials and development training
Open trials take place after Labour Weekend. Up to 24 athletes are identified for a Development Squad, working on skills and understanding with their appointed coaches.
Term 1
Easter tournament
Teams are named for the Easter tournament.
Term 2
Development
Development continues in preparation for the Term 3 campaign.
Term 3
Mid-North Zone Day and Champs
Teams compete at the Mid-North Zone Day and the Mid-North Champs.
U14 pathway
U14 Boys and U14 Girls
Term 4

Regionals
Basketball New Zealand U14 Regionals
U14 teams then move on to Basketball New Zealand's U14 Regionals. There are three regional tournaments (Northern, Central and Southern), each for two zones; the Northern Regionals are for the North and Mid-North zones.
U16 and U18 pathway
U16 Boys, U16 Girls, U18 Girls and U18 Boys
Term 4
Open trials and development squads
Open trials take place after Labour Weekend. Up to 24 athletes are identified for a Development Squad, working on skills and understanding with their appointed coaches.
Term 1
Easter tournament
U16 and U18 squads use the Easter tournament as their final trials to select the team or teams for the Mid-North Zone Day.
Term 2
Mid-North qualifiers
Selected teams compete at the Mid-North Zone Day and the Mid-North Qualifiers for Nationals.
Nationals
Basketball New Zealand Nationals
Qualified teams go on to represent Rotorua at the Basketball New Zealand Nationals.
