Everyone has a part in this

Your voice belongs here.

If you play, coach, referee, manage a team, volunteer or support from the sideline, this kōrero is for you. Schools, kura, clubs, whānau and people new to the game are all welcome. You don’t need to know anything about design to take part.

Why we’re starting with a kōrero

Basketball in Rotorua runs on people. Our rebrand should reflect the players, whānau, kura, clubs and volunteers who make the game happen here. We want to hear what RBA means to you, what we should hold on to, and where there is room to grow. Your feedback will help shape the design brief for our logo, colours, gear and the way we tell our story.

Bring your perspective

Five questions.
Your own answers.

There are no right or wrong answers. Come ready to share what matters to you, or send us your thoughts in writing.

  1. What three words describe Rotorua basketball at its best?

Tell us why you chose them. A memory or moment on court can help explain what those words mean to you.

  2. What makes basketball in Rotorua feel like us?

Think about our people, our place in Te Arawa, our kura, clubs and the way we come together.

  3. What should our new identity keep, and what are you open to changing?

This could be our colours, logo, history or the way RBA presents itself. Tell us what matters to you and why.

  4. Which local stories, places or connections should help shape our identity?

Who should we kōrero with to understand and represent those connections properly? Sharing an idea does not give permission to use a story or cultural design.

  5. What would make you proud to wear and share the new Rotorua Basketball identity?

Think about uniforms, supporter gear, our website and social media. What would help you and your whānau feel represented?

Keep the conversation going

What happens with your ideas?

  1. 01

    Listen to our people

Gather ideas from these sessions and written feedback, including voices from our schools, clubs and volunteers.

  2. 02

Turn ideas into a design brief

Bring the main themes together to guide the design work, and share what we heard.

  3. 03

    Come back for another kōrero

We will hold a second round of feedback on design concepts before the board makes the final rebrand decisions. We are aiming to launch in March 2027. Dates for the second round will be shared once confirmed.

Can’t make a session?

You can still be part of it.

Send us your answers to any of the five questions. A few words or a story from your time in the game are welcome.

The email button opens a draft in your email app with the questions included. You choose what to share and send it yourself.

You can also email info@rotorua.basketball.

Ngā mihi to our basketball whānau.

To everyone who gives their time on court, on the sideline and behind the scenes — thank you. Help us build an identity you feel part of.
