BBNZ U14 Northern Regionals 2026

Rotorua's U14 Boys and U14 Girls teams will compete at Basketball New Zealand's U14 regional tournament for the North and Mid-North zones, hosted by Tauranga City Basketball.

Basketball New Zealand runs three U14 Regional Tournaments, each made up of two representative zones:

  • Northern: North and Mid-North zones
  • Central: Central and Capital zones
  • Southern: Mainland and Southern zones

Rotorua Basketball belongs to the Mid-North zone, and both our U14 Boys and U14 Girls teams will compete at the Northern Regionals.

Tournament details

  • Dates: 7 to 10 October 2026
  • Venue: Mercury Baypark, 81 Truman Lane, Mount Maunganui, Tauranga
  • Host: Tauranga City Basketball
  • Game times: games start between 8am and 8pm each day. Teams need to be available for all game times across the four days of competition.

Key dates

  • Registrations due: 2 September 2026
  • Health and safety plan: 4 weeks before the tournament begins
  • Draw release: approximately 2 weeks before the tournament
  • Technical meeting: approximately 2 days before the tournament begins

Good to know for players and whānau

  • Players who competed at the U16 National Championships are not eligible for the U14 Regionals.
  • Mouthguards are compulsory for all players.
  • Games are 4 × 8-minute quarters with a stop clock, and zone defences are not allowed.
  • Boys use a size 6 ball and girls use a size 5 ball.
