Rānui Maxwell

I joined the Rotorua Basketball Association Board in 2025 to support the sport my children are involved in, both as players and referees, and to contribute to the growth of basketball in our community.

I bring over 10 years' experience as a board secretary across sporting and Māori organisations, along with governance experience as a trustee for three Ahu Whenua Trusts.

I currently work as a Play Advocate at Rotorua Lakes Council, supporting initiatives that encourage play and physical activity. This includes working alongside marae and Basketball New Zealand on the Hoops in Marae project. I'm passionate about creating opportunities for tamariki and rangatahi to stay active, build confidence, and remain connected to their communities.
